Such an amazing place. Dawn is so knowledgeable and got me up and running with my mums old sewing machine. I did the beginners course and this has really inspired me to keep going on my sewing journey. All the items in the shop are reasonably priced and Dawn won't try and sell you something you don't need but will recommend what might help. Thank you for helping me. Just attended the Hand Embroidery Basics course at Create and Sew Studio and would highly recommend it. The course lasted for around 2 half hours and passed so quickly - practising lots of hand embroidery techniques. Came away with a little kit to get more practice in at home. It’s the perfect way to de-stress. Thanks Dawn.

Dawn is a lovely teacher who is trying to tailor her classes to students’ needs. She is very creative, supportive, and easy to communicate with.

I learned to use a sewing machine with Dawn last year and enjoyed the course so much that I have been going back to various other classes ever since. The most recent was a masterclass on zips and buttons. The 3 hours just flew and I came away with more confidence and helpful notes. Dawn and Hannah are both incredibly patient teachers and I can highly recommend the classes at Create and Sew if you want to learn a new skill.

As an absolute beginner I felt completely at ease straight away, Dawn is friendly and patient and class sizes are small so it is easy to ask questions and learn. I immensely enjoyed my beginners course and was amazed I made two projects to take away with me. Thankyou Dawn.

What a fabulous evening we had! I’ve wanted to be a part of Dawns arm knitting workshop for a while but never had chance so I invited her over to run a workshop in my studio. It was such a fun evening, Dawn was brilliant….and patient (I need patience 🙈) and we all now have an incredible skill to be able to use ourselves. Last Wk I learnt how to embroider. Such a lovely small group of people Dawn was really patient with us all going at our own pace . All equipment was provided to use & take with us & we each made a sampler with 12 different techniques.I’ve since started to embroider an heirloom adding more family names to my mum& dads table cloth . I’ve been putting off for years . So big thanks Dawn I highly recommend the beginners embroidery course . X

Another brilliant class making The Peony dress. Hannah was amazing as always...patient, encouraging and so calming. Never did I ever imagine i could make this....concealed zip, darts and ruffles.....as if by magic I walked away with a new dress. I have completed a number of classes from beginners through to making your own clothes and how to use an overlocker.Each time I have been given the time to make sure I am confident in what I am doing. The tutors show incredible knowledge and more importantly the patience to make sure every one attending gets what they need from the class.Highly recommended as the perfect learning environment.

I highly recommend this free motion embroidery workshop! I had great fun learning something new that I can take forward into other projects! For now, my beautifully flawed yet perfect to me hare will have pride of place on my sewing room wall.

My daughter attended the 2.5 hour starter session and it was fantastic! Dawn was extremely friendly and great with the children. The studio is lovely and my daughter gained a huge amount from the session. Would highly recommend.

Lovely evening with coffee and biscuits.....oh, sorry, you want the low down on the course... Tutor very knowledgeable, easy to talk to and ask questions of. Shown how to prep fabric ready for free motion sewing but she had kindly already done this for us, and cut out the stencils required, to save time. Everything needed was provided, you just to take yourself along. We had free practice to start with and did quickly get the basics, although I think it is a skill that will improve with time. I didn't finish and the 3 hours whizzed by, but I have everything I need to finish up at home.Thanks for the experience, it is something I kept meaning to have a go at, but never quite found the time. Nice to do it with others in a relaxed, friendly space.

This studio is one of the best. I went there for a Christmas Wreath Workshop, organised by Dawn and Kath (kraftio_by_kath + createandsewstudio). They were really supportive and explained how to start the wreath off and offered their assistance throughout the session. I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it! THANK YOU 😊

Really enjoyed Beginners Learn to Sew Part 1. Dawn is really friendly and a great tutor. Everything was very clear and straightforward and I was really pleased with what I achieved in a day as someone who hasn’t really used a sewing machine before. I’m looking forward to Part 2 and learning some more skills and would recommend the course to anyone who wants to learn how to use a sewing machine.

I've been to 2 of the crochet classes now and each time I've learnt invaluable skills and tips. I'm a complete beginner and the patience and time the tutor has had for me, has undoubtedly bolstered my confidence.The class sizes have been small each time I've attended, which, personally for me is a huge plus as I tend to clam up in big groups.I wholeheartedly cannot recommend this class enough. Julie has taught me literally everything I know, and I will most likely attend more crochet classes and possibly other classes. Thankyou so much 💚

What a lovely relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. Great tuition, welcoming atmosphere and a scrumptious graze box to nibble on. Tea, coffee, soft drinks or a glass of fizz provided too! All the materials needed were provided. A really fun night.

Yesterday evening my sister and I attended a crochet class at Create and Sew.As complete beginners we didn’t know what to expect. What we got was a warm welcome and two hours of expert ( and patient) tuition together with lots of laughs.We now know the basics of crochet and cant wait to join other sessions to learn skills in the many crafts they offer at their Chorley venue

Attended the parent and child class with my 9yr old. We both had a great time making a cushion each and my 9yr old was so impressed that she'd managed to make a cushion independently in the session.Such a lovely space and Dawn is a great teacher.Thanks again! I'm sure we'll be back.

Really enjoyed the macrame plant holder course. The instructor explained everything clearly and helped when needed. I came away with a completed plant holder and I'm looking forward to the next macrame course at Create and Sew Studio.

I attended the Beginners Learn to Sew Part 1 class, and it was absolutely amazing! Considering I had never sewn before, I came away with a cute tote bag and storage pot, that I actually managed to sew myself! I attended the Memory Bear session yesterday 30.06. The tutor Ruth was fantastic and explained everything. Ruth was very hands on and she was very patient and knowledgeable. So happy I did this course and I love my Bear called Atlas. I would thoroughly recommend this course. I have attended other courses at Sew Confident Chorley, arm knitting and lamp shade making.

I went to the Roman Blind class last week. I have never been to anything like this before and was meant to be coming with 2 friends who unfortunately had to drop out, I was really nervous about going alone but I am so glad I did. The tutor Hannah was lovely and patient. I had a brilliant time and look forward to going again.

I visited Sew Confident for the first time yesterday for the start of a 3 day beginner patchwork/quilting class. I was made very welcome by the class tutor Dawn and another 4 ladies were in attendance. The 4 hours flashed by and we made excellent progress and were given lots of information by Dawn.There is a kitchen and toilet facilities.There are also comprehensive fabrics, waddings and notions to purchase at very reasonable prices. I purchased a quarter inch foot which has improved my seam accuracy immensely.Fiona the studio owner is also very helpful.The venue has Janome sewing machines for student use together with cutting mats and rotary cutters and the usual scissors, unpickers etc so it is possible to travel light.A very enjoyable 4 hours and looking forward to next week.

I found the Roman Blind course very enjoyable and informative. Hannah clearly knows her stuff! Whilst I didn't quite finish as I'm very slow, I now have the confidence to complete this and further projects at home. Highly recommend :-)

We recently had a party for our 11 year old’s birthday at Dawn’s Sew Confident studio. The girls had a couple of hours to make their own cushions. Dawn was brilliant and guided them through how to make the cushion in stages. Two of the girls had never sewn before and they did so well and all of them really enjoyed it and kept saying how much fun it was. Dawn was so patient and really put the girls at ease and made it such a fun thing to do for a party. I would thoroughly recommend Dawn and her classes/parties to anyone. Thank you

Just completed a five week beginners sewing class at Chorley and had the best time. I am not new to sewing but decided my machine needed a dust off and since it is five decades since I had any tuition it wouldn't hurt to revisit the basics. The evening class was small, the other ladies delightful and Dawn lead us with patience, humour and wonderful advice through the different projects. So I learnt a lot, thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be back to try my hand at something new. Thank you.

I have now done 2 classes here in the last few weeks. The first was for crochet granny squares and today was sewing a shirred dress.The workshop space is perfectly sized for group classes and the lighting is great so you don't have to strain to see what your doing.Both tutors I have seen have been excellent. Dawn today was very good with her explanations and guidance. I now have a beautiful dress that I can wear in public and be proud to say I made this.I would wholeheartedly recommend Sew Confident Chorley to anyone who is interested in sewing or crochet whether a beginner or more experienced as the range of classes on offer are suitable for most people and at affordable rates.

The “Sewing Room” it’s a hidden gem. If you’re after a unique setting to run a meeting/training session then speak to Dawn at Sew Confident. I’ve just held a training session in the “Sewing Room” and it got great feedback from all the participants, as it’s light and airy with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. It provides a quiet setting that is easily accessible from Chorley town centre. There is also a kitchen for refreshments or to create a breakout area for lunch.

Attended Sew Confident for the shirred summer dress class today and previously attended the beginners class both classes excellent Dawn is amazing, I have learnt so much and met some lovely people, already booked onto more classes, can’t wait to attend again!

I have just complete my third course (beginners sewing, quilting and Memory bear) and enjoyed everyone of them. The tutors are very knowledgeable and fully of tips that you just don’t get from watching Youtube videos. Nothing is too much trouble for them and I have learnt so much, I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Such a great place to learn all sorts of sewing. I’ve done classes with Hannah and dawn who are both amazing and so helpful, the other people on the classes are also super lovely so it’s a really nice place to come and spend some time learning something new!

I did a Sewing social class here recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dawn helped me to adjust a jumpsuit I'd bought, hem some jeans and alter a top for my daughter. The space is relaxed and informal and Dawn was extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble! I have booked another class already and plan on booking more. What a special little place I have found, so pleased...

I have sewed many years off and I have decided to start fresh again.
I learnt to read the pattern and lay out on fabric as Dawn showed me and sewing. I really enjoyed it so much also Dawn is absolutely an ace teacher on face one to one cos I'm deaf which is much easier lipreading. I cannot wait to go to class and try to finish my summer dress 😁 (I love it!)
I would recommend you all come try and have to go and learn to sew.

Attended my first alterations workshop last night and absolutely loved it. Lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere and really helpful, kind and patient tutor. Can’t quite believe I can now alter the waist on a pair of trousers! Was great to see what others were learning too. I’d definitely love to do another alterations class and take a different item to alter. Thought the overlocker was great too!!

Hannah was an excellent tutor, loved the small class size, learnt so much including how to create my own pattern from an old pair of trousers - superb !

I did a beginners overlocker course with Sew Confident lead by Hannah. Hannah is a brilliant tutor, patient, knowledgable, and explained everything simply. The atmosphere was informal and the environment comfortable. I would definitely do another course, and would recommend these classes highly. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced seamstress, you'll definitely leave with more sewing confidence than you arrived.

I had a great evening learning how to arm knit with Dawn! She’s super friendly and patient, and it was a group of 8, so she was able to give all of us plenty of time. I came away with a gorgeous mustard blanket and a new skill, a great way to spend an evening!

Did an overlocking class in October. Hannah was very inviting and explained how to make an oversized t-shirt.There was only one thing wrong, it was a bit hard to find, needs more signage. But I will definitely be booking onto another couple of classes next year, eg; dress making. I would recommend it. Thank you

I went along to the swing dress Christmas class last night with no experience of using jersey fabric or an over locker. Well what a fab class I came away with a beautifully made maxi swing dress. Such an easy pattern and wow I love using an overlocker… definitely need one #goingonmychristmaslist

Had a lovely couple of hours today sewing cushions for the breast care ward at Chorley Hospital. Was a productive afternoon with lovely ladies all keen to give back to the community. Having been on the ward myself some 19 years ago I was happy to help. Everyone was chatty and friendly and tea/ coffee provided by Dawn. I’m sure I’ll be back again to share a class or two in the future. Well done Sew Confident for hosting such a worthy event for our local hospital xx

Absolutely loved the beginners course I did. So much so that I’ve since booked onto two more courses. The free motion embroidery (if you’ve not done this one, give it a try - it’s loads of fun!) and the Seascape in a few weeks. Dawn and Ruth are both amazingly friendly and so knowledgeable.. not to mention patient (thankfully!)

I had wanted to book onto a class with Sew Confident for awhile. However, it felt a bit daunting booking onto a class by myself, not knowing anybody and worrying that everyone else would be way more advanced than me. When I saw a shirred dress class I had to book it. As soon as I arrived to my class I felt completely at ease! Dawn is a fab teacher. So knowledgable, friendly and kind. I have left feeling totally inspired and can’t wait to get my machine back out at home!

I attended an alterations class and was greated by Hannah. The class was really bright and airy, very welcoming and Hannah was really great at explaining step by step what I needed to do. Had a brilliant 2 hours this evening at the Machine Doodles class. The teacher Ruth is really inspirational and super helpful. I’m delighted with what I produced and now have the confidence to doodle away.

Dawn cane to my house and held a arm knitting party. It was lovely and relaxed and Dawn helped each one of us individually.Dawn arranged all the wool and sent us videos after the party so we could remember how to do it if we wanted to make more chunky blankets. We all loved it. Our blankets were made in about 90 mins and now we are knitting for our friends, everyone loved them that much.Thoroughly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I went to the beginners class in 5 lessons I was able to make a denim tote bag, bunting, lined make up bag with a zip and a piped cushion cover with a zip.I was able to work at my own pace. I didn't feel as though I was slowing anyone down.Small class 6 people use own machine or one of theirs.Dawn was so patient and explained everything simply. She was always on hand to help.If you fancy having a ho at sewing I would recommend

Booked the dressmaking for beginners course and loved it. Made my very first item of clothing that I am actually happy to wear. It’s a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with great tutors and have already booked some more courses with them

I've been lucky enough to do the virtual arm knitting class with Dawn twice, I love it! The group has been relaxed & lovely each time. Dawn made the steps so easy to follow, even on zoom, and she was happy to go back a step or two if anyone (me) didn't quite get it the first time! I love my blankets & would highly recommend!

I thoroughly enjoyed the machine doodles class with Ruth, she was very patient and explained the techniques thoroughly. I was really pleased with my final piece. I can recommend this class, great value for money.

I've been on a few classes as the studio and they're all great. I did the beginners course in September 2020 and it's given me more joy than I ever imagined. I can now make my own clothes, bags and purses. The overlocker course was also great and the alterations class. I can't recommend Sew Confident Chorley enough.

Dawn recently came to do an arm knitting class for myself and a group of friends.Dawn is absolutely brilliant and the class was so much fun. We all made a chunky kit blanket which we got to keep and take home and all the colours were stunning. Brilliant class, really enjoyed it and learned so much. Feel so much more confident using my machine now and learning to put zip in a cushion cover was brill. Came away each week having made something useful. Dawn is so patient.

I have just completed my 3rd class; I now know how to make a patchwork quilt from scratch! The studio is a very calming and relaxing place to learn. Dawn, Jo and Ruth are all lovely and very patient tutors. If you are thinking about learning a new skill, this is the place! I will definitely be back in the future.

Recently attended an online arm knitting class with Dawn. She was so patient and lovely we loved the class and ended up with two beautiful blankets. She sent us a copy of the class and full care instructions for looking after out blankets. I was a bit dubious about an online class as I thought i would struggle not being in person, but i could easily follow along and it made for a giggly happy afternoon ... the perfect antidote to lockdown blues. Thoroughly enjoyed learning how to make a variety of styles of curtain tops using eyelets, pencil pleats etc. Would highly recommend, staff are very efficient, tutor Jenny was very experienced and shared her knowledge. I felt very Covid safe with screening, use of sterilised equipment, following all recommended guidance. It was great to be back. Can't wait for my next class booking.

I did the beginners weekend sewing class in October and absolutely loved it. Having never done any sewing before I was amazed what I produced over the two days, and Dawn was a great teacher. I've since bought a sewing machine from Sew Confident and I'm looking forward to doing more classes at Sew Confident in the near future. I highly recommend.

Ive just learned to arm knit a blanket! I can highly recommend an online class with Sew Confident. We arranged a class just for us and it was such good fun, giving us the opportunity to learn a new skill with the support of Dawn. Great for anyone, no matter you experience of crafting, Dawn was patient and a great teacher and we all got the satisfaction of creating a unique blanket for ourselves.

Loved learning to arm knit via Zoom. Dawn explained things clearly and was happy to recap as many times as necessary. Before I knew it my ball of wool was turning into a beautiful blanket. It was so satisfying to see it grow. I look forward to trying other classes. Many thanks <3

I’ve finally taken the plunge to learn how to sew using a sewing machine. I’ve had the pleasure of being taught by Jenny and Dawn. Sew Confident has been fantastic and I couldn’t have asked for more for my first time as a novice. I was able to undertake the class virtually which has been a blessing for so many reasons. Just completed Craft Zero to Hero, a 3 week zoom course with Dawn and I have to say she was very patient and informative. As a previous non sewer I now feel like I have the skills to start my crafty journey. In 3 weeks we made a tote bag, bunting, a draw string bag, a make up bag, a brush roll up case, and a flange edged cushion. I have one pre recorded class left to do.I would recommend the course, you get all the tools you need to start your journey all you need is a sewing machine and an iron. Thank you Dawn 😁

I did the online arm knitting class recently with Dawn, she was so lovely, made everyone feel welcome and at ease, her instructions were clear and easy to follow, but it was no trouble for her to repeat or show something slightly differently. I've bought more wool since the class, and again she was so lovely to deal with. Highly recommend!

Highly recommended especially the beginners classes I’d never sat in front of a machine before but I took too it straight away thanks to the amazing tutor Dawn. I’m now looking to get my first machine and I’ll keep coming back to classes as I experiment with my new found hobby.

I purchased one of Dawn's virtual courses for my mother in laws birthday as something we could do together given the current circumstances. We had a fabulous night and made some beautiful blankets! Dawn was so lovely and friendly from the get go and made you feel really comfortable. I would absolutely recommend her :)

I have just done the beginners quilting course which was 3 hours. The materials were provided and it was a really enjoyable class. I wanted to try quilting with some tuition before giving it a go on my own, and this filled my expectations and more. Paula was a great tutor. Some basic machine sewing skills are needed but we learnt how to put a zip in and use various different machine feet. We completed a zip pouch each and I'm delighted with the result. I recommend this class

I attended the hand embroidery class. We had a lovely time learning all the stiches and starting my next project. Dawn was great and ran over anything we were unsure of. I felt the measures put in place for social distancing were great and I felt safe during our time here.

As an absolute novice I am confidently sewing after 4 evening classes and have just made my first t-shirt at home! Dawn and Hannah are the most patient tutors and the items you make in the classes are fab! They also have lovely fabrics you can buy.

Thanks so much Dawn and Hannah for all the help in making this swing dress at Sew Confident Chorley. So lovely to finally get back again into the studio, which you have transformed to make it feel so safe and welcoming too. I loved the dress and so much appreciated the help and guidance in following the pattern and getting the fit right...I definitely feel I will be able to make this again at home now.I would really recommend this studio for anyone interested in learning as a beginner or developing in sewing...there are some fab courses 💕

This is my first foray into the world of sewing and it’s the best move I ever made. I chose the Maxi class and it’s been brilliant I’ve learned so much over the past few weeks. I sew with confidence and this is all due to my tutors Jenny and Dawn. I really enjoyed the zoom classes with Dawn. She explains everything so well and has the patience of a saint. She shares a wealth of expertise and knowledge about the subject and is very easy to relate to. Jenny’s YouTube classes are excellent and well prepared. I’m looking forward to the next stage of my journey and to hopefully go along to the studio classes after lockdown. To conclude I would thoroughly recommend the classes with Dawn and Jenny.

A totally wonderful experience.I had absolutely no sewing experience, bar a couple of hazy memories of ruining some fabric in a secondary school Design Technology lesson. I have always wanted to learn but didn’t know anyone who could teach me and didn’t feel confident enough to try and learn without instruction. My best friend had attended the maxi class in Glasgow and recommended I look at their new online courses. I dithered for ages about which length of course to go for, before picking the maxi course. I’m so, so glad I did. Doing zoom calls meant I met other (lovely) people and got to learn and have support as a group. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and I was able to learn from the questions other people asked, as well as my own. There were also prerecorded videos showing you how to cut out your fabric and patterns before the class, as well as prerecorded videos so you could make things in your own time. These were recorded by Jenny and were amazing - so concise, easy to follow and great fun. Every time I found myself thinking “so does that bit go there?” I’d discover the next second in the video that she was explaining that, with a close up of fabric to camera, in case you needed to see it.Dawn, who did the live classes was AMAZING. She was so warm and friendly, knew the answer to any question thrown at her, remembered everyone’s names and checked in with people throughout the class. No one was forgotten about and everyone was helped. She was also phenomenally patient - which was something I was a bit worried about before I signed up. I managed every project we did and am so proud of my makes. Incredibly, it was Dawn’s first time running the online class which I never would have guessed with how easily/smoothly the classes went and how professional she was.The best thing about doing the maxi course remotely was that I got to keep all the videos sent to me. This means I’ve been able to make all the projects again and dip into the videos any time I’ve got stuck, so I can really practise and build my skills.I enjoyed the course so much that I upgraded my machine via Sew Confident when I felt sure this was going to be a long term hobby. It was sent quickly and I got a discount too. I also signed up for another class (which was also taught by Dawn) and learnt to arm knit a blanket from a 2kg ball of wool (yes, really). Let me tell you as someone who can barely remember her left and right it is staggering to me to have something draped over my sofa that I’m really proud of!Thanks to the Sew Confident team I have realised that I do have the ability to try new things and to learn hobbies that have always intrigued me but that I’ve assumed I’m not creative or mathematical or neat enough for. I genuinely have developed confidence! And I have already thrown myself into making new things. Next up: a skirt! I truly can not recommend the company enough and will be back for more classes - both online and in the studio further down the line. Trust me, spend a little extra for the big course, dust off your machine and believe in yourself and these excellent sewers!

I really enjoyed the virtual arm knitting class! Dawn was a fantastic teacher and explained all the steps thoroughly and repeated any steps as needed. The video was clear and it was great to see what to do close up as we went along. I was so pleased with the quality of the wool I received and I’m very happy with my finished blanket!! I also think the class was excellent value for money as it included the price of the wool. I will be buying more wool from Dawn to complete more blankets for my family and friends and will hopefully be able to attend more virtual classes in the future.

I recently attended a virtual arm knitting class over zoom (whilst in lockdown) with Dawn and couldn't recommend this enough. Dawn explained the techniques really well with 2 camera angles and her patient manner meant everyone was helped and we all produced a fabulous blanket in the class time. For anyone thinking should I give it a go.. Just go for it! I've now got family and friends asking me to make them one! I also think the zoom classes would be great after lockdown for people who can't get to the workshops due to other commitments or distance if they were to continue.

Lovely workshop space in the centre of chorley. All course leaders are helpful, friendly and really welcoming. The rucksack workshop was brilliant. I love what I managed to make and felt supported all the way through. I will definitely be booking on more sew confident workshops.

I attended the first ever class at Sew Confident Chorley when it first opened, and am a proud re-attender! Dawn is so patient, and so enthusiastic and I have seen the business grow with lots of additional classes that include crochet etc and not just sewing! The beginner class was fabulous and took me as a complete incompetent to completing projects and signing up for the quilted pouch class. My biggest limiting factor is having two young children who require my attention on weekends and evenings, otherwise I would be signing up for everything!

Very friendly, welcoming, very relaxing, very knowledgeable. My daughter and I had a lovely afternoon and came away with lovely items we’d made. Highly recommended!

I’ve really enjoyed my two all day beginners classes here. Dawn is a wonderful person and trainer and I’ve enjoyed meeting others including at the open day. The rooms are nice, bright and airy, there’s a very friendly welcome and atmosphere and I look forward to many more visits.
