Mary-Clare’s love of nature - plants, birds, animals, etc - stems from her childhood growing up in the county of Kent, ‘the garden of England’.
She works mainly in water colour and her flower paintings, some of which are on a very large scale, are vibrant and sensual. She has moved away from precise botanical accuracy to produce images which catch the eye and spur the imagination.
As a result her loose flowing style gives each picture the opportunity to be revisited and re-interpreted.
