As I sat in Ullapool waiting for the ferry, having been lashed by wind and rain on my motorbike journeying from Inverness, I was trying to find somewhere to stay in Stornaway. The choices were pretty limited due to the current situation, but thankfully the Hebridean Guest House had a room available.

I arrived at about 8pm, fairly moist, Linda’s welcome was very warm and she was thankfully not put off by my appearance. She showed me to my large, warm and comfortable room. Having travelled 530 miles and then the ferry journey, the comfort of the bed and a hot shower was just what I needed. An extra bonus was the heated towel rail that enabled me to try out clothing and boots from my journey!
The breakfast was fabulous and if you haven’t had Stornaway Black Pudding, you really should (unless you are a veggy, or Vegan obviously)
It was a great base for touring round the island and the position 5 mins walk from Stornaway centre made it an ideal spot.
I would highly recommend the Hebridean Guest House to anyone wishing to visit the islands.
