I made the booking via a well known platform at the end of a tiring day.On the platform I booked via I'd noticed that there were options for various rooms but they were listed as sharing a bathroom.I'm not a fan of "middle of the night" meetings with other guests so I opted for the alternative that didn't make any mention of sharing a bathroom. So I was slightly confused when I arrived at check-in and was given the tour showing where the bathroom was and other toilets. The breakfast room was already set up in the kitchen. Cheeses and meats and various spreads, cereals, milk, wrapped pain-au-chocolat....it looked like a good selection that most would be happy with. Could help yourself to milk for the room. The lounge had a very interesting fireplace and it seemed to be framed with part of the gates that once ringed Coventry. And you couldn't help but notice that things were being restored and part of the renovations that I'd read about before writing this. A renovation process that previous reviewers had mentioned (a year ago according to Google's dating of previous reviews on here). The host explained where local food options were, so I dropped my bags and went for dinner. If you do go to The Nugget, the local pub, make sure that if you drive there to input your car reg into the parking tablet or you will get a fine!Later back at the Lodge, I noticed that there was a toilet next to the room allocated to me. The toilet seat was broken and lying next to the toilet! And that's when I checked back to my booking. Yep I hadn't asked for a double room with a shared bathroom. I thought I'd booked a room that had a small en-suite (because all the other options mentioned a shared bathroom...the room I selected didn't mention any shared bathroom.)I'd been upgraded. And being shown all the toilets/bathroom at check-in now made sense. The room had a sink in the corner, so that was a bonus. Getting water for the kettle, or a freshen up in the room was possible. The bed was comfortable and the room warm.Reading other reviews.... I'm not sure if any of the rooms have an en-suite. If that's what you need to make an overnight stay comfortable, I would recommend asking before making a booking.A suggestion to the host...make sure it is easier to understand if a room has a en-suite or not, (on all the online platforms via which a room can be sold) because if you assume you have a en-suite, then not having one isn't an upgrade when it comes to managing client expectations.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5
