Who would have thought the beautiful spa town of Buxton in the middle of the Peak District would be the world's top spot for a perfect coffee? There are two things which set Buxton Roastery apart for me. First, most obviously - the coffee. It's the best I've ever tasted, it smells good enough to turn heads (I'm not kidding - I took a bag in to work and suddenly it was like I was the pied piper, with an ever-growing group of undercaffeinated office workers blindly following me to the coffee machine!).Second, the people. They're infectiously excited about their roasts - always wanting to test new mixes and grinds, and really caring about the quality of the brew. It's a hot summer day while I type this, sat with a mellow cold-brewed glass next to me, and I just can't get enough. Their Peang Thai is sublime - all the heavenly aspects of a perfect coffee, with none of the bitterness or sourness I honestly thought was just inescapable no matter how good the beans. If you're looking for a hard jolt with a real punchy flavour then this isn't the one for you. Personally, I can't stand espresso so strong and bitter that it makes you wince, and Peang Thai is the perfect antedote to that. It seems farly low caffiene and delicately flavoured, which is ideal for me as I drink it for the taste rather than the buzz, and it allows me to drink it throughout the day without being kept up all night.I feel like a Buxton Roastery evangelist as I love their coffees so much, so I want to be clear that I'm not connected to them in any way at all either personally or in business, I'm just a big fan :-)
